Joining the Underising roster today is Ki ! (@notrllyki), a melodic artist from Roanoke, Virginia, who’s creating odes to the trap. Ki blends soulful lyricism with the grit of rap music’s roots. With multiple singles and six projects on SoundCloud, Ki has released his most polished and industry-ready project to date, Go Ki Go.

"I know that shit get hard but you gotta keep on going"

From the inspiring intro Orange to the harsh reality of Drugs, Ki delivers a consistent project with no filler tracks. Quietly crafting a timeless work, this album isn’t on the charts yet, but stream Orange to see why it deserves to be. Curious about the process, we reached out to Ki for a short Q&A and here's how that went:

Q. Why Roanoke? It's not a hip-hop scene.

A . That's where I'm from. It's a small town but we definitely got a lot of talent coming from the rap/hip-hop side.

Q. The east coast is hip to it. With the DMV and Raleigh nearby, it was only time. What's your recording process like?

A. Yeah I'm a couple hours away from there and it's a simple process. All I need is headphones and my phone. I'm a bandlab warrior but I do go to the studio from time to time.

Q. Do you remember what was going on when you recorded Orange?

A. For sure, I was thinking bout how I grew up and where I grew up and how life is going to be when I get to where i want to be.
