Vikkitarra’s been dropping a song a week for a year straight. Beats for six years, rapping for one, and a track up almost every week the whole run. All in, music or nothing. Caught him on the phone about baby lamb 2, his new three-track EP, and ran the catalog back from the top while we talked. Chill, humble, said thank you more than anyone I’ve talked to in a minute.

What’s up with the name Vikkitarra?
”So I got it from the movie Terrified. It’s like a horror, thriller kind of thing. There’s two chicks in it named Vicky and Tara, so I just put that together.”
And baby lamb 2?
”I have this old project called baby lamb. I’m gonna name it baby lamb 2 because it’s kind of the same energy, but it displays my sound better, you know.”
Where’s baby lamb come from?
”I thought it sounded cool.”
How’d you start?
”I started on BandLab kind of doing it for fun, messing with some of my friends’ stuff. Then I had this one friend, CHRi$00, he pulled up and we used FL Studio for the first time. I was like, yeah, this is hard. So I just started doing it religiously. More options for how you can make your voice sound and stuff. It’s so much more professional. You can actually make something good on there.”
You were on beats before you rapped though.
”Yeah, I actually started making beats like six years ago. Didn’t start rapping until like a year ago. I was making them for fun, messing around, I’d still do beats every day. Then it kind of started getting more, so I was like, start rapping."
"A few months ago I wasn’t even close to the sound.”
People compare you to nettspend. How you feel about that?
”I don’t even have that good of a flow, honestly. So I don’t know, it’s just the voice, bro. Like, I’ve always hated my voice, low key. I could never like how it sounded on songs.”
How’d you get past that?
”Honestly, just trusted the process. Kept getting better, finding better presets, messing with my voice. Just going with the flow, low key. It’s crazy how much I’ve improved, though. A few months ago I wasn’t even close to the sound.”
Three tracks. baby lamb 2 out now.
